Initial Contact by team of Mongolians from YWAM Ulaanbaatar
A team of young workers from Youth With a Mission, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia made first contact with the Henan Mongols on a recent trip (sponsored in part by Project:Engage China.) Their goal was to contact, connect, and identify a Person of Peace among the unengaged group. They used a Mongolian Cultural Festival as a vehicle for their research and efforts.
The Henan Mongols are trying to recapture their lost Mongolian heritage through events like this one. This forms a perfect point-of-contact for Mongolian believers to engage with the people group.

From Ozzy Chiord, team’s sending leader: “Biggest challenge our team had was their translator. None of the team members spoke Chinese and the Mongolian student in Xining, Qinghai province was to be their translator, but she needed to go home sooner than expected. They were limited in communication, but they are sure they found the person of peace among the Henan Mongols. They built relationship with a family who has a home in Xining and Henan and visited both homes. The wife of the family is coming to Ulaanbaatar this Fall, so follow-up is planned.”
